Nylon/Polyamide
What is it?
Nylon (Polyamide) is a synthetic fibre made from petrochemicals, which are derived from crude oil. Through a chemical process called polymerisation, these raw materials are transformed into long, strong molecular chains known as polyamides. These fibres are then spun into yarn and woven or knitted into fabric. Nylon was first developed in the 1930s as a lightweight yet extremely durable alternative to natural fibres such as silk.
